Radio Silence Take 3

The Surgery That Never Was So remember—I wrote these entries as I experienced them. But now, they come with a whole new twist. The Plan is the Plan is the WHAT!? Even though these entries won’t go up until after surgery, I couldn’t leave you all hanging after my week of radio silence. That wouldn’t be fair. So here’s the recap of last week’s chaos: Monday Morning: Let the Games Begin I got the call—surgery was officially set for Friday, January 31. This set off a domino effect of test rescheduling, but only the  surgery-related  ones. Chemo-related tests? “Hold, please.” If you would like to leave a call back number press # now. Meanwhile, the night before, I was up booking my trip to see Jake because I had a  feeling  next week would be just as chaotic as this one. Turns out, I was right. Ticket booked. Off we go. The Drive From Hell Tuesday morning, I left at 6:15 AM for an 8 o’clock appointment at Brigham and Women’s Boston. Yes, I  knew  my appoi...

MINES - The Real MVP

Breaking the Silence… Again Once again, radio silence has been broken. The medical updates are on pause for now, but I know so many of you want to know what happened with Jake. So, I’m releasing this blog into the wild. Please enjoy this update, soak it in, and  wait  before asking me about the rest. Give me a moment to breathe, and I promise—by the end of the weekend, I’ll catch everyone up on the medical, surgery, and chemo. For those of you who struggle with the concept of time ( you know who you are ), that means  please  hold all questions until  Sunday, February 2, at 11:45 PM. If you reach out before then… well, let’s just say, I might pretend I didn’t see it. More likely, I’ll just send you the direct link to this blog  again —maybe even in all caps with excessive exclamation points. Enjoy! Consider this your friendly but firm  “Don’t Make Me Auto-Reply You”  notice. ( But you are always welcome to text me your answer to the BIG questio...

Wait! What about Blood Work? I can’t even tell you what I was working on when it suddenly hit me: Wait. They haven’t taken a single lab.   I have not had any blood work or labs since Spring of 2024. True Dat. No hemoglobin, no liver, no kidney? Aren’t these things tied to breast cancer? Don’t the numbers show anything? Apparently not. You’d think they’d at least check the dipstick to see if this whole thing is even running. But no. Apparently, blood work is so last season in the world of cancer staging. Here’s the deal: Over the past 11 years of my what-the-hell-is-wrong-with-me saga , my labs have been anything but boring. Liver function? Off. Kidney function? Off. And let’s not forget my personal favorite: an ANA level at 1:640. For those keeping score, that’s high enough to make someone say, “Hmm, maybe we should look into this.” But no. Apparently, staging cancer is more of a “get the images, take the tissue, and run with it” kind of vibe. So now, I’m left here wondering:...
